Educational Requirement
|
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture
• B.Sc. / B.Arch. / Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.

Required Qualifications:• Relevant professional experience in furniture design, cabinet design, product design, or furniture manufacturing will be preferred.
Required Skills & Expertise:• Strong knowledge of Furniture & Cabinet Design.
• Excellent understanding of furniture construction, materials, hardware, fittings, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Knowledge of SketchUp / 3ds Max / SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / other 3D design software will be an advantage.
• Ability to prepare detailed production drawings and technical specifications.
• Good understanding of cutting dimensions, joinery, edge banding, drilling, assembly, and finishing.

Responsibilities
|
• Design and develop cabinets, wardrobes, storage units, kitchen cabinets, TV cabinets, office cabinets, bookshelves, shoe cabinets and other related furniture products.
• Prepare furniture concepts, sketches, detailed drawings and 3D models based on market requirements and company specifications.
• Develop accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, dimensions, specifications and production drawings.
• Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), material specifications, hardware specifications and cutting details where required.
• Ensure designs are suitable for mass production, easy assembly, structurally sound and cost-effective.
• Select appropriate materials such as plywood, MDF, particle board, solid wood, veneer, laminate, PVC, metal, glass and related hardware/accessories.
• Design and specify suitable hinges, drawer slides, handles, locks, connectors, brackets, lifting mechanisms, and other furniture fittings.
• Work on design modifications based on production feasibility, customer requirements, quality issues and management feedback.
• Develop prototypes and coordinate with the production team for sample development.
• Conduct design reviews and identify opportunities for improvement in functionality, aesthetics, durability and cost.
• Maintain proper documentation and revision control of all drawings and design-related documents.
• Support the development of new furniture collections and product ranges.
• Perform any other design and product-development-related responsibilities assigned by management.
