Role OverviewThe General Manager – Transportation will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and optimization of all transportation operations within the Super Mart and Pharmacy group. This role ensures timely, safe, and cost-effective movement of goods across retail stores, warehouses, and distribution centers. The GM will drive operational excellence, compliance, and efficiency while leading a large team of transport, fleet, and logistics professionals. Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Develop and implement the company’s transportation strategy aligned with business goals.
Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for both supermarket and pharmacy divisions.
Optimize fleet management (company-owned and third-party vehicles) to ensure on-time deliveries.
Manage budgets, control transportation costs, and ensure profitability.
Process & Performance Management
Establish KPIs for transportation efficiency, service levels, and delivery accuracy.
Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, and driver productivity.
Ensure consistent delivery performance to retail outlets, pharmacies, and customers.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with all government regulations, transportation laws, and safety standards.
Drive policies on road safety, vehicle maintenance, and driver training.
Manage licensing, permits, insurance, and regulatory documentation.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop transportation and logistics teams across regions.
Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and retail operations for seamless supply chain execution.
Build relationships with external transport vendors and logistics partners.
Customer Experience & Service Delivery
Ensure timely deliveries with minimal errors to support retail sales and pharmacy operations.
Drive customer satisfaction by improving delivery lead times and reliability.
Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve logistics-related issues.
