  • Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:
  • The candidate must independently arrange and confirm their supervisor to guide the research process after being selected for the fellowship.
  • Applicants should demonstrate the ability to draft research proposals, write reports, and prepare professional presentations.
  • An applicant may submit a proposal for only one thematic research area. Applications submitted under both themes will not be considered.
  • Appointed fellows are required to maintain regular communication with the YPSA project office throughout the fellowship period and must attend the office in person if requested.
  • Any misrepresentation or false information provided in the application will result in disqualification.
  • Selected fellows must complete their assigned research work and submit the final report within the required timeframe.
  • Candidates with previous research experience will be prioritized during the selection process.
  • Applicants must not have full-time jobs during the fellowship.
  • Candidate should be fluent in both English and Bangla.

  • Responsibilities : BackgroundBangladesh ranked the 7th most vulnerable to climate change globally, faces floods, cyclones, and landslides, worsening poverty cycles and affects vulnerable groups. Its subtropical climate brings seasonal variations and hazards like landslides and cyclones, disrupting income and displacing communities. Ranked 27th globally in disaster risk (INFORM Index), Bangladesh suffered significant human and economic losses from 2014 to 2020, including 1,053 deaths, 4.6 million damaged houses, and $4.1 billion in economic damage. Save the Children Bangladesh, with local partners, launches an initiative to enhance the preparedness of vulnerable communities in northern and coastal Bangladesh for multi-hazards by focusing on impact-based forecasts. Project Objectives Promote and facilitate community-led anticipatory action, encompassing a child-centered gender-sensitive approach to safeguard lives and livelihoods from climate-induced hazards in northern and coastal regions in Bangladesh.Preferred Themes
  • Interested applicants are invited to submit proposals on the following two topics-
  • Integrating Local Knowledge and Satellite Data to Predict Landslide Hazards in Chattogram City Corporation and Banshkhali Upazila.
  • What Do Children Know? A KAP (Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices) Study on Weather and Landslide Risks in Chattogram City Corporation and Banshkhali Upazila.
  • Timeline for FellowshipThe total duration of the fellowship is three months, during which fellows must complete their research and submit a draft report to YPSA within the stipulated timeframe.

  • A brief research proposal outlining the intended research topic.

  • An updated CV highlighting relevant research experience.

  • Contact details of at least two academic or professional referees, including the supervisor of the research.

  • We will not accept submissions that do not follow the prescribed format.

  • Note: Applicants currently enrolled in any other fellowship are not eligible to apply.

  • Only short-listed candidates will be informed via email.

  • The final confirmation email for the selected candidate will be sent by 23 July 2025. All selected candidates are required to give a proposal presentation. The final two candidates will be selected based on the evaluation of these presentations.
