PRERONA is a women-led feminist non-governmental organization based in the Satkhira district of Bangladesh, founded in 2006 by a group of like-minded social workers. Since its inception, PRERONA has been dedicated to empowering vulnerable women in the coastal regions. ABOUT PROJECT: PRERONA made a promising implementing partnership with Plan International in the Coastal District Satkhira. This collaboration aims to empowering girls in this coastal region focusing the impact of climate changed. PRERONA will start the implementation of the three-year-long project titled “ DURBAR: Empowering Girls for Climate Resilience, Rights, and Green Futures in Munshiganj” in 15 June 2025. The project will benefit a total of 3500 households including youth especially girls, parents, teachers and civil society. In the coastal target areas, the project will focus mainly on youth girls , which is disproportionately affected by climate change. The project is financially supported by Plan International. PURPOSE: PRERONA is inviting applications for the position of Livelihood/YEE officer, who will undertake the project’s overall implementation, supervision and reporting, under the supervision of the Head of Program of PRERONA. Project will be implemented in the Munshigonj union under Shaymnagar Upazilla, Satkhira. KEY RESPONSIBILITY:
Conduct local climate vulnerability and hazard assessments (floods, cyclones, erosion, heat) with a gender-responsive lens.
Map community disaster risks and vulnerabilities, especially for adolescent girls.
Contribute to development of Local Adaptation Plans of Action (LAPA) and DRR strategies at community/union level.
Develop and deliver training modules on climate adaptation, resilience, and DRR for community groups, youth clubs, schools, female leaders, and local officials.
Train government and community volunteers on early warning systems (EWS), hazard monitoring, response protocols.
Support rollout of nature-based solutions (e.g., mangrove restoration, Green school plantation) and small-scale resilience pilot projects· Coordinate DRR/climate integration with health, education, WASH components of the DURBUR project.
Engage with union/village disaster management committees (UDMC/VDMC), government departments, NGOs, and Plan International stakeholders·
Organize community campaigns, school events, and awareness drives around climate risks, safety, and gender inclusion.
Develop IEC materials in Bangla—poster, flipbooks, radio spots—emphasizing girls’ rights and DRR.
Facilitate participatory processes to involve girls in identifying risks, priorities, and intervention.
Help design indicators to monitor DRR and climate resilience outcomes, especially gender-specific ones.
Regularly collect, analyze, and report implementation data and lessons learned.
Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports on achievements, challenges, and adaptive measures.
Stay current on national DRR/CCA policies (e.g., Sendai Framework, Bangladesh Climate Strategies).
Document good practices, lessons, case studies (e.g., empowering girls in resilience), and share internally.
