Project Name: ‘‘Health System Strengthening at Government Health Facilities at Cox’s Bazar’’Reportable to: Superintendent, District Hospital, Cox’s Bazar Monitoring & Technical Assistants: PHD in collaboration with IOM will deploy a group of staff led by Team Leader for round-the-clock monitoring and technical support. This may include spot check, review of performance reports and assessing technical competency.Accountable to: As an appointing authority, you will be accountable to PHD for legal and disciplinary procedures for which PHD will review your performances periodically. Team Leader of this project and senior officials will represent PHD.Job Objective:The SCANU Nurse will be recruited as a part of human resource support under the joint collaboration between PHD and IOM to enhance access, quality and utilization of essential health, nutrition and GBV services in District Hospital, Cox’s Bazar. The SCANU Nurse will be responsible to deliver specialized neonatal nursing care—monitoring and stabilizing sick or premature new-borns, managing incubators and essential equipment, educating parents, and collaborating with SCANU teams, to support optimal infant outcomes and uphold national new-born care standards. Responsibilities:The SCANU Nurse will undertake the following tasks in the respective department assigned by the hospital authority, not limited to:
Evaluate incoming newborns, determine eligibility, admit into SCANU, and initiate care protocols
Continuously check temperature, heart rate, respiratory status, oxygen saturation, and feed tolerance using approved monitoring charts
Provide care based on national neonatal protocols—including thermal care, feeding support, antibiotic administration, and fluid management
Ensure strict aseptic techniques, hand hygiene, instrument sterilization, and maintain environment safety within SCANU
Record and manage the consumption of drugs, medical supplies, and nutrition commodities using SCANU documentation tools
Detect signs of deterioration and escalate care promptly to physicians or senior nurses
Assist the doctors with the ward rounds and post-operative cases.
Assist to prepare periodic reports and other requests for information as required.
Provide quantification of SCANU logistics for ordering from the warehouse to avoid stock out.
Maintain detailed patient registers, monitoring charts, and report data through Government-approved systems
Participate in regular SCANU oversight meetings, monitor service quality, and share findings during weekly clinical sessions
Work with facility managers to integrate SCANU services and improve facility-level neonatal care
Maintain functional relation with and accountability to the in-charge of the respective SCANU
