Educational Requirement : Diploma (minimum 3 years) in Medical Faculty/Medical Assistant (e.g., MATS) course from an accredited academic institution and recognized & registered by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC)
Other Requirement :
  • At least two years’ experience in relevant clinical fields
  • Previous experience in international organization is an advantage. Knowledge and experience with working in the field and medical emergency department and Trauma management will be added as advantage.
  • Effectively applies knowledge on clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, administering medication, phlebotomy, maintenance etc.
  • Required English – Moderate proficiency, and Knowledge of local dialects (e.g., Chittagonian or Rohingya) is an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical protocols, quality standards, and emergency response.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Working experience in public health facilities under World Bank supported Health and Gender Support Program will be preferred

    Responsibilities : Project Name: ‘‘Health System Strengthening at Government Health Facilities at Cox’s Bazar’’Reportable to: UH&FPO – Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar Monitoring & Technical Assistants: PHD in collaboration with IOM will deploy a group of staff led by Team Leader for round-the-clock monitoring and technical support. This may include spot check, review of performance reports and assessing technical competency.Accountable to: As an appointing authority, you will be accountable to PHD for legal and disciplinary procedures for which PHD will review your performances periodically. Team Leader of this project and senior officials will represent PHD.Job Objective:The ​ Medical Assistant will be recruited as a part of human resource support under the joint collaboration between PHD and IOM to enhance access, quality and utilization of essential health, nutrition and GBV services in Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The ​ Medical Assistant will be responsible to provide comprehensive primary healthcare support; including patient screening/ triage, clinical assistance, minor procedures, medication administration, health education and patient follow up—while assisting medical officers in delivering quality services and ensuring effective community outreach within the Upazila Health Complex. Responsibilities:The Medical Assistant will undertake the following tasks in the respective department assigned by the hospital authority, not limited to:
  • Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients with special attention to ensure patients’ need with equity and equality.
  • Explain medical procedures to the patients/ beneficiaries as well as establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Provide treatment and active management of both the outpatients and inpatients in UHCs under technical guidance and supervision of Medical Officer.
  • Assist in minor medical procedures, specimen collection, wound dressing, injection, phlebotomy, and first aid response etc.
  • Assist the patients in understanding their condition, medication with dose intervals and other doctor’s recommendation as well as build a compassionate and respectful environment with patients, friends, and families to understand self-care skills; answering questions.
  • Assist Medical Doctor in conducting health examination including history taking, measurement, treatment, medicine management and dispensing, immunization and collating medical reports and also in performing medical procedure and referral.
  • Guide and assist support staff in patient triage, patient counselling, hygiene, infection prevention and control (IPC), and patient flow management.
  • Assist in outreach health program, coordinate with Health NGO partners, volunteers and support them in community health preventive activities.
  • Maintain daily checklist of all medical and delivery equipment and medicines to ensure that all medical supplies and kits are adequate and fully stocked, and within the expiration period
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques and liaising for repair and technical support.
  • Documents patient care services by updating patient register and other records regularly. Also assist in preparing the daily report for further submission in DHIS2 entries,
  • Assist Medical Doctor in identifying priority health needs and other activities including but not limited to regular diseases outbreak monitoring, collecting statistical information, take part in health awareness campaign, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the Consultant, Medical Officers, Nurses, Data Entry Operators, and support teams to ensure efficient patient-centred service delivery.
