At least two years of working experience in any eye hospital/ clinic.
Knowledge and experience with working in field Hospitals, public health sector, medical emergencies will be advantageous.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Working experience in public health facilities under World Bank supported Health and Gender Support Program will be preferred.

Project Name: ‘‘Health System Strengthening at Government Health Facilities at Cox’s Bazar’’Reportable to: Superintendent of District Hospital, Cox’s Bazar Monitoring & Technical Assistants: PHD in collaboration with IOM will deploy a group of staff led by Team Leader for round-the-clock monitoring and technical support. This may include spot check, review of performance reports and assessing technical competency.Accountable to: As an appointing authority, you will be accountable to PHD for legal and disciplinary procedures for which PHD will review your performances periodically. Team Leader of this project and senior officials will represent PHD.Job Objective:The Optometrist will be recruited as a part of human resource support under the joint collaboration between PHD and IOM to enhance access, quality and utilization of essential health, nutrition and GBV services in District Hospital, Cox’s Bazar. The Optometrist will be responsible to provide comprehensive eye care—conducting vision assessments, diagnosing and managing ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses and treatments, and referring complex cases—while ensuring patient education, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with healthcare teams to uphold hospital standards. Responsibilities:The Optometrist will undertake the following tasks in the respective department assigned by the hospital authority, not limited to:
Provide prescriptions on primary eye care treatment, refraction error and initial advice for investigations to patients with eye diseases
Perform vison tests and analyses results and to diagnose patient’s sight problems
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses and medications when/where required.
Screening and identify the patient who requires eye surgery and refer them to eye specialist for further decision.
Assist in transferring of referral patients and taking care of all necessary arrangement of documentations.
Prepare monthly requisitions of medicines, consumables, stationaries in consultation with RMO or concern eye specialist.
Maintain respective units medicine and stock register
Provide pre & post-operative care to patients who are undergoing eye surgery during the Eye-surgery campaign
Keep all kind of records, supervise BCC mobilization, patient collections and counseling during the Eye-surgery campaign
Coordinate with GoB/NGO stakeholders as per consultations with MO/RMO
Maintain functional relation with and accountability to the respective authority
