Position Description: BAIUST invites applications from dynamic, qualified, and committed individuals for the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Law. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, academic leadership, and service to both the university and the broader academic community.
Key Responsibilities:
To teach undergraduate courses in accordance with the approved university curriculum, with a particular emphasis on both foundational and advanced areas of Law. Core teaching subjects include, but are not limited to, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Law of Contract, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Property Law, Administrative Law, International Law, Labour and Industrial Law, Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Legal Drafting and Interpretation, and Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility.
To design and deliver engaging, research-informed instruction using modern pedagogical approaches that accommodate diverse learning styles and foster intellectual engagement.
To mentor students in academic growth, supervise final-year research projects, and provide guidance on moot court participation, legal clinic activities, and professional career development.
To conduct high-quality research in relevant areas of law and publish in reputed peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, both nationally and internationally.
To ensure that teaching content is informed by current legal developments, judicial interpretations, and global research advancements.
To provide academic leadership within the department, contribute to faculty development, and support strategic academic initiatives, including curriculum advancement and policy formulation.
To participate actively in Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) activities, including program review, self-assessment, and continuous improvement of academic quality.
To contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curricula, ensuring alignment with global academic and professional standards.
To engage in curriculum development, academic audits, and the development of innovative course content aligned with institutional goals.
To initiate and maintain partnerships with legal institutions, chambers, law firms, NGOs, and government agencies to provide students with internship opportunities, guest lectures, and career pathways.
To represent the university at national and international legal forums, conferences, seminars, and academic exchange programs, enhancing the institution’s visibility and reputation.
To participate in interdisciplinary collaborations, community outreach, and legal awareness campaigns, contributing to justice and rule of law.
To stay informed about emerging legal issues such as cyber law, artificial intelligence and law, digital rights, and climate justice, and integrate these topics into teaching, research, and public advocacy.
To serve on academic and administrative committees of the university and actively contribute to institutional governance and decision-making processes.
To undertake any additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the university authority in pursuit of academic excellence.
