Responsibilities
:
Conduct various laboratory tests on samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) to assist in diagnosing diseases, monitoring health conditions, and supporting research.
Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Set up and calibrate laboratory instruments, ensuring they are functioning correctly. Regularly clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure precision and accuracy.
Analyze test results, identify abnormalities, and document findings. In some cases, provide preliminary interpretations or recommendations based on the results.
Follow all safety protocols to handle hazardous materials, chemicals, and biological specimens properly. Adhere to OSHA and other relevant safety standards to minimize risks in the laboratory.
Ensure that testing procedures meet high standards of quality and consistency. Regularly participate in quality control checks and participate in audits to maintain laboratory certifications.
