Bangladesh Midwifery Society (BMS) is the professional association for midwives in the country registered by the Department of women’s affairs, Bangladesh. There are more than 7000 members of BMS across the country. BMS supports the rights of women to access safe, respectful maternity care. From 2017 to 2021 BMS has been implementing a twinning project with Royal College of Midwives (RCM) UK. From 2022 BMS is supported by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) and UNFPA Bangladesh in implementing a project which will continue for four years.

    Responsibilities :
  • In consultation with BMS Executive Committee and staff members develop a SMART resource mobilization plan (including resource mobilization targets)
  • Update and Implement BMS’s fundraising plan by identifying fundraising opportunities, developing funding pipeline within tight timescale
  • Identify in-country donors and build relationships with donors
  • Submit grant applications to at least 3 donors and raise funds up to 2000 USD during the probation period, with the first-year fundraising target of $10,000
  • Work with BMS’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Project Manager to improve policy procedures – operational guidelines, identify gaps and to minimize the gaps establish review existing policy procedures and strengthen them for smoother operations
  • Train BMS staff and selected executives in fund raising, partnership management, including public relations
  • Member engagement and develop member benefits and fee structure to increase revenue from membership
  • Develop a plan to invest in properties for BMS
  • Develop partnership with wide range of stakeholders
  • Develop liaisons and linkages with TV, newspaper and other media
  • Establish network with Ministry of Health
  • Develop operational guidelines for smooth operations
  • Strengthen the governance systems
  • Develop capacity of midwives who will work benevolently focusing the development of the organization.
  • Share updates after every 15 days with the project lead
