Educational Requirement : B.Sc in Agriculture/Agronomy/Soil Science/Agriculture Engineering/Plant Pathology or relevant subject. Master’s is the same subject will give preference. Experience At least 5 years The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):NGO, Agro based firms (incl. Agro Processing/Seed/GM)
Other Requirement :
  • Age at most 45 years
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in any reputed NGO/INGOs, probably agriculture-related programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient practices, and rural livelihoods.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
  • Practical experience in delivering farmer training and technical assistance.
  • Proficiency in project management and M&E tools.
  • Fluency in English and the local language.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to rural project sites.
  • Willing to drive motorycycle and valid motorcycle driving license will give preferences

    Responsibilities : ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.Agriculture Officer is responsible for managing the agricultural activities of the project ensuring that they are carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. This includes conducting field-level innovative activities, developing IGA and providing technical assistance and support to beneficiariesAs partnership with DRC, ESDO will implement the “Improving environment for self-reliance of affected population across Myanmar Displacement axis (IESAPMDP)” Project in Coxsbazar. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position.Job ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Responsibilities: • Contribute to overall goal & objectives of ESDO• Dissemination organization culture and values to team members and stakeholders • Follow organizational policies and raise issues connected with the line Managements. Specific Responsibilities/ Training:• Ensuring agricultural planning and execution of the project intervention.• Design Livelihoods Input support to beneficiaries on Climate resilience programming• Conduct training on Smart High Value Crops based on Vegetables.• Community Mobilization and capacity development for stakeholders (host and camps)• Provide Capacity development training for high value product/ high value vegetables production techniques, value chain development for individuals• Provide skill development training to the beneficiaries on IGA.• Established Black Soilders Fly Production Unit for fertilizer production.• Mobilized and managed CBOs/ Micro entrepreneur groups for business (consultation meetings/PRA, etc.)• Running Farmers Field School based on vegetables at Host level.• Provide technical assistance and support to beneficiaries, including advice on crop production, management, marketing, and financing.• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the projects and make recommendations for improvements.• Promote best practices in agriculture, especially sustainable land use, integrated pest management, and conservation.• Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders, government agencies, beneficiaries, and environmental groups, to promote sustainable agriculture practices.• Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate project results and recommendations to stakeholders and the general public.• Manage budgets and resources for agricultural intervention of the projectsWorking Conditions:• Agriculture or Forestry Officers may work in a variety of settings, including offices, and field. They may need to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet project deadlines. They may also be required to travel to various locations, including remote areas.• Any other tasks assigned by management.Planning & Knowledge:• Enhance raise community voice to establish their rights. • Develop gender sensitive environment in project implementation• Ensure capability to improve to access to local justice to the community. Budgeting:• Timely budget preparation & sharing with project staff • Budget break down• Budget variance analysis. Analysis:• Analyze the causes of local injustice and selection of beneficiaries• Analyze raise voice of women against discrimination and reduce vulnerabilities• Analyze implementing processes• Analyze target & progressField Visit:• Prepare field visit plan at the beginning of the month and will take approval from Focal Point/ Executive Director (if need)• 80% field work to assist in implementation project activities other 20% office works, documentation, and coordination with stakeholders, donor and GoB officials. Reporting:• Prepare progress report both quantitative and in narrative and submit to respective authorities in time manner.• Collect good practice and success stories and include into reports and publicationDocumentation:• Preserve all files with respective letters/documents/reports etc• Preserve necessary photographs of the project activities
