Educational Requirement : Bachelor/Honors, Bachelor of Law (LLB), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Law, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Fluency in English and Bangla.
  • Proficiency in report writing and data analysis.

  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites, including the five selected universities.
  • Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in relevant responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in GBV, gender, or protection sectors.
  • Experience in project management of multi-year, large-scale donor-funded projects from design to implementation.
  • Experience in similar projects will get preference.
  • Experience working in the education sector or with youth and academic institutions is an asset.

  • Responsibilities :
  • Project Name: Ending sexual and gender-based violence in public spaces, in the context of work and tertiary educational settings in Bangladesh
  • Project Duration: 35 months
  • Job Description / Responsibility
  • The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and supervision of the project implementation. This role is critical to ensuring the project successfully achieves Output 2.1, which mandates that the University Grants Commission (UGC) and tertiary educational institutions strengthen their capacities to adapt, implement, and monitor a whole-of-school approach to prevent SGBV. The Coordinator must maintain alignment with UGC policies and relevant national laws.
  • Key responsibilities include:Coordination and Leadership:
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate all aspects of the project.
  • Be responsible for donor liaison and inter-programme coordination.
  • Maintain partnership and networking, engaging key stakeholders such as UGC, public institutions, law enforcement, youth, and civil society.
  • Liaise with UGC and other universities to ensure knowledge sharing and harmonized implementation of GBV policies across the project catchment areas, including Khulna, Kurigram, Jamalpur, Bogura, and Patuakhali.
  • Policy, Compliance, and Institutional Strengthening:
  • Coordinate GBV prevention and response activities within the university.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, or developing institutional GBV policies, SOPs, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure the enforcement of GBV-related policies and guidelines at the university, specifically strengthening UGC’s skills to monitor the implementation of the 2009 High Court Directive on Sexual Harassment and other pertinent legislation.
  • Track institutional compliance with UGC and national guidelines on GBV prevention and response.
  • Support UGC to develop guidelines for the development of multi-sectoral service support for student victims of SGBV.
  • Capacity Building and Awareness:
  • Organize and facilitate training for students, faculty, and staff on GBV prevention, reporting, and survivor support.
  • Oversee the delivery of key capacity development activities, including Needs Assessments, Capacity Trainings (biannual trainings for university authorities, faculty, student leaders, and complaint committees), and Learning Dialogues.
  • Develop and disseminate IEC materials on GBV awareness and prevention, supporting efforts like the MOOC (Online Course) on GBV laws and digital safety.
  • Promote student and staff engagement through peer education, clubs, and campaigns, including supporting student platforms on the change maker activism toolkit and active bystander trainings.
  • Oversee initiatives to strengthen teachers’ capacities to address gender stereotypes and prevent SGBV.
  • Case Management and Referral:
  • Support the establishment or enhancement of GBV reporting and case management systems.
  • Ensure timely and confidential handling of GBV cases and referrals to appropriate support services (counseling, legal aid, health, etc.).
  • Monitor survivor support and follow-up in coordination with professional service providers.
  • Ensure all services are inclusive for vulnerable groups, including women with disabilities, gender diversified people, and ethnic minority women.
  • Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning:
  • Maintain up-to-date records on GBV incidents, case follow-up, and institutional responses.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the university and UGC on project progress, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned to inform policy and practice.
  • Key Deliverables:
  • Institutional GBV Action Plan developed and implemented.
  • Training and awareness sessions conducted.
  • Regular GBV data and reports submitted to UGC.
  • Functional and confidential GBV reporting mechanisms in place.
  • Strengthened referral pathways and survivor support systems.
